where i dreamt you, you found me...

i dreamt of you
each time i walked
along this sandy beach
for as long as i can remember
you were dreamed upon

i wondered when and from
where you would arrive

knowing in my heart of hearts
that one day you would be here with me
i relinquished myself to this knowing
it sustained me
and yet, my heart ached for you

ached fervently and at times, lost faith
but faith stood its ground
and you arrived
on my favourite beach
on my favourite shore
sans the white steed
with a flowing mane

but alas you arrived
sand between your toes
as you walked toward me
hands outstretched
taking me to your chest
placing a kiss;
the sweetest kiss upon my forehead,
upon my lips

oh,
i felt your love long before
your arrival and
now that
you are here, as i gaze
into your sinfully beautiful brown eyes
my heart is content
beyond my wildest dreams
the longing has been fulfilled

you are my dream
you are my white knight
you are my love

now we stand
together
hand in hand
on that same beach
on that same shore
and
pay homage to
the place where
our souls were fused in holy
induced love...

Conn's Song...

Conn’s Song

this gift he possesses
startled my hardened heart
for ‘it’ somehow felt known

he is the elusive one
shrouded in mystery

though his heart glows with a pureness
that cannot be missed
a caring, gentle, selfless soul
who has lived sorrows
though sheds them not on others

a warrior soul with a weathered start
he’s filled with light and love
as if sent from heaven above

a bit of a prophet
a bit of a seer
who is sure to endear

he’ll walk about
as he visits your inner world
unbeknownst
he’ll capture
the ‘essence’ of you
you’ll wonder aloud “how this could be true?”

a bastard not
or an orphan be
he was a gift, if only
temporarily
bestowed upon me.

This was a poem written in early 2009 for my friend Conn,
in thanks for his beautiful poem, 'Calli’s Song' that he so
beautifully created for me. This was my humble thanks, though
it could not compare.

If you’ve not yet read 'Calli’s Song' and you
would enjoy doing so, please find it a few posts down below.

love and the grey side of ...2 for 1

fragments of future
legions of past

our story has not yet been told
or perhaps, it’s been told a thousand times?

in ancient civilizations
in different realms

across a roman landscape
or within a highland song

on the island of crete
or in mesopotamian times
through legends of gods and goddesses
or amidst drawings hidden in grecian urns

through unknown portals
gateways
and galaxies divine

among ancient ruins
or within the egyptian pyramids
in shallow graves made of masonry stone

whispered on the winds
or upon humanity’s collective breath

or traveled the constellations one by one
or adrift among the clouds

in lakes, streams
and rivers
or in sand grains scattered about the sahara and mohave
through the red rocks
of the western territories

via the trans siberian railway

over the swiss alps
within the fruit of the world’s grape vines

perhaps our likeness has been painted
by the great painters of past
or written by shakespeare himself

perhaps it is just you and me
this here
this now
and this is our story.

A vast greyness is all that can be seen
The slightest sheen remains
Though thread bare with tiny tears and wear

To go from love to bliss
To sadness back to love
To bliss
Back to sadness
Then to loneliness

To go from feeling loved
cherished and understood

To feeling unloved
Uncherished, misunderstood

To go from desire
To despair

To go from near perfection
To near ugliness

To go from an attentive heart
To a heart that has somehow forgotten

To go from feeling a princess
a beauty
To orphan annie

To go from a quickened pulse
To no discernable pulse at all

To go from open loving
all-knowing conversation
To riddles and rhymes
Speaking in tongues
Secret codes, foreign languages foreign to us
Unknowable meanings hidden

To go from…

To go to…

to be held this way...

Uncertainty, while falling slowly
Take away this veil
The illusions since multiplied
Having altered life and love

When was the last time I was ME?

Return me not to the place
On the cusp of right and wrong
Between shadows and reality
Plagued by misconceptions of
Proper living

and yet seeds of hope interplay with burdens
of everyday?

Life, death, solace, black hole

Drama scripted, Director - yell, no
scream, “CUT”!

Recesses of brain matter
Active and alive
Where live unexpected descents to
A perfect model of HELL

NO EXITS HERE

Clarity? Insight?

ON THE PRECIPICE OF REASON?

Wicked theatrical scenarios
Play out in melodramas
That draws a hungry crowd

Utopia?
Nirvana?

Do they exist? Beyond this veil?

Ah, a cliché to be held this way
To be held this way…

heavenly horses...

heavenly horses
with their gorgeous lush manes
beauty gracing, grazing,
oh, how serene.

symbolizing freedom, power
and strength.

oh, to have one's own...

i am drawn to these
creatures...

they're wild in spirit
for their spirit 'rides on the winds'
carrying wisdom and echos of past
they are life-force in action
and though they symbolize the force of life
they can also symbolize how quickly
life can be taken away.

you'll find them in legends
fairy tales
all throughout history
in times of war
in times of peace

they even find their way
into my dreams...

so many incarnations
though i love to see them free
saw some out west once
an amazing sight to see

yes, they still exist

wild mustangs
wild & free

like i want to be...

* i find myself excited today having found
a new place to ride. The kids will enjoy lessons
one-on-one and I will partake in riding
when those 'rare moments' occur when it's
just me...i can't wait!

thank you Sandy!

Calli's Song...

Calli's Song

The mystic sits midst candles in silence in her room
A soft gentle light for that kind and gentle face.
She pushes back the long tresses of her hair, presses her fingers to her temple
Closes her eyes and looks inside.

She walks barefoot through an ancient forest,
Of oak and ash and tangled fern.
It is dank and dark,
The trees drip with water, staining the green velvet of her dress
She laughs softly to herself,
Passing swiftly on.

She jumps across a fast-flowing stream and enters her favourite glade
Where sunlight dances through the trees
Swirling brightness crossed with shade
She sits beneath a gnarled old oak,
Feeling its silent wisdom and its strength
She smiles and settles, opens her book.

The mystic sits midst candles in silence in her room
A soft gentle light for that kind and gentle face.
She pushes back the long tresses of her hair, presses her fingers to her temple
Closes her clear grey eyes and looks inside.

She walks along an ancient road, in an ancient, troubled land
And strangers stop and stare at her
A woman alone on such a path.
But she smiles and laughs and carries on.
No one knows what age she is
Where she has been or where she goes
Yet they all can sense her power, beauty and her grace.

I met her once many years ago and though she barely spoke
It made me feel filled with joy, with laughter and with hope
And when she'd rested by the road she smiled and bade farewell
She did not look back, her grey eyes fixed on other things
Further down the road

The mystic sits midst candles in silence in her room
A soft gentle light for that kind and gentle face.
She pushes back the long tresses of her hair, presses her fingers to her temple
Closes her eyes and looks inside.

*This beautiful poem, or rather song was written for me by a friend, Conn Brennan. Who hails from Ireland, the home of Green!
What he has written for me is a song, a song of my soul.

Go raibh mile maith agat!

Though this post has nothing to do with the 4th of July, it does have to do
with friendship, kinship, learning and getting to know someone enough
to have meaningful conversations, sharing a bond, coming away with a soulful
understanding of another. What amazes me is that Conn wrote this knowing very little about me, but it moved me very much. In fact, I had it posted on my SU blog
with another image, the painting titled: Beata Beatrix by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, which can be viewed here: Beata Beatrix which, Conn and I both agreed fit the poem completely. Though I have since changed to this image. Yet, for months now I have wanted to paint 'The Mystic' or rather, 'Calli's Song' myself, but have been painting other things at present. One day, I hope to post this again with a painting done by me.

magical blessings to all of you, sweet gems!

love, is it love?

is it love that binds him to her?
or is it a mere fascination with the
possibility of what could be?

reality says, it is not her he
loves, just the idea of her.

she is more than what he sees.
she has gone deeper than most.
she has been shaken.
there is so
much more to her.

it takes a special breed,
a special man

to entice her
to arouse her
to stimulate her intellect
to awaken her to even the idea
of him.

yet there is always that something.
she cannot put her finger on.
something that makes her take two steps
back after she's just taken a major step forward.
like a roller-coaster in her heart
love sends her up and over
near and far.
sideways
back & forth.
spinning.

she does not trust.
simply put,
she cannot trust.

she wants him, one man to love her,
only her.

if he loves another
or is enticed by another,
he is not for her.

her heart claims sadness at the thought
as it creates a deep, dark pain.

why?
why?

she does not want to feel this way,
anxious, hurt, uncertain.

he can bring her to her knees,
because she has come to love him so.
yet, he does not know.
he does not know!

to her it is real
to her it is sacred
to her it is what makes her world go round.

yet, he does not know.
